Unlike conventional stain removers, Madame Paulette has taken into account the two most important factors for safe and effective stain removal: time (the most important! The sooner the stain can be treated, the easier it is to remove) and stain identification (every stain has a different composition). There are three primary stain groups and each one requires a special formula:

• Special Formula 1 - Earth Based Stains: Fruit juices, teas, colas, liquors, etc.
• Special Formula 2 - Protein Based Stains: From the body and dairy products, such as blood, perspiration, milk, eggs, etc.
• Special Formula 3 - Oil Based Stains: From vegetable, mineral, or petroleum oils, such as baby oil, animal fat, salad dressing, mayonnaise, motor oil, grease, etc.
• A fourth packet contains three individual super absorbent cloths. Using this cloth under the stained area will help transfer stain matter through the fabric into the absorbent cloth. This will make the stain removal process even more effective!

$12.50 (1 kit only) OR
$20.00 (2 kits - 20% Savings)

Each formula is conveniently packaged, easy to use and guarantees excellent results. Completely customizable, Madame Paulette® can be personalized to include color, logos, trademarks and so forth—perfect for corporate gifting or adding a personal touch!

The Second Exclusive Interview from Edge Magazine with Madame Paulette's President, John Mahdessian...

Seven Questions for John Mahdessian…Celebrity Grime Fighter

EM: Edge Magazine
JM: John Mahdessian

EM: You have a lot of entertainers among your past and present clients. Which are you at liberty to mention?

JM: Madonna, Beyoncé, Eva Longoria, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Bette Midler, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, David Letterman, Mayor Bloomberg, the Trumps...when do you want me to stop?

EM: You can stop. Which clients are you not allowed to talk about?

JM: We covered this in the last issue. Confidentiality, remember?

EM: Okay. What are some of the red carpet events where your services have been needed?

JM: The Grammys, the Emmys, the Oscars, the Met Gala—if it’s a red carpet event, we’re there. We also cleaned the curtains at Radio City. And we’ve even been called in to do the Victoria’s Secret Angels Show.

EM: Really? So what was it like working with wings and underwear?

JM: Challenging. To say the least.

EM: Does certain type of lighting show stains more?

JM: Most stains are visible when the spotlight is on a performer. All stains are visible under UV lighting, including the ones you can’t see with the naked eye. That’s why we use a blacklight as part of our standard operating procedure.

EM: You’ve been on TV a bunch of times. Is that a rush, or just part of being Gotham’s greatest grime fighter?

JM: A little of both. By the way, I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of me and of the Madame Paulette crew on TV in 2012.

EM: Sounds like a reality TV discussion.

JM: All I’ll say is the things we encounter every day no one could possibly dream of scripting.

EM: You’d be willing to have your whole life exposed to the world?

JM: I’d be proud to promote what we’ve been doing as a company for the last fifty years—to show how thrilled our clients are when we give their valued possessions a new life. Besides, I’m an eligible bachelor with a spotless reputation. Why not use TV to promote that, too?

Johnny on the Spot - Exclusive Interview by Edge Magazine

Seven Questions for John Mahdessian…Celebrity Grime Fighter

EM: Edge Magazine
JM: John Mahdessian

1. EM: You can get grease off a $5,000 suit and candle wax out of a $10,000 evening gown. How?
JM: Sorry. Our trade secrets are more heavily guarded than Fort Knox. That being said, there is nothing we can’t deal with...and no place we won’t go. In a complete freak¬out emergency, I’ll show up with my bag of tricks and take the stain out right then and there. We can use any one of ten different methods we’ve developed over the last 50 years.

2. EM: Are the stains of the rich and famous better than the stains of regular people?
JM: They may be more urgent, but I wouldn't call them better. They can be more “interesting.” We’ve actually blacklisted a few people.

3. EM: Really? Names please!
JM: Sorry. Discretion is the first rule in this business.

4. EM: What’s the oldest thing you’ve ever had to clean?
JM: Right now, we’re working on an 18th Century garment for the Museum of the City of New York. We’re documenting it as a case study so we can share our methods with other restoration people in the museum world.

5. EM: The biggest? The smallest? The most valuable?
JM: I once had to clean every inch of a 20,000 square foot mansion. The smallest thing I’ve cleaned is the stained petal of a silk flower. The most valuable? Princess Diana’s gown. I considered that priceless.

6. EM: Switch gears for a second—what the heck is Martinizing?

JM: I know it takes an hour. Beyond that, I’m not really sure what it is. I wouldn’t Martinize anything valuable.

7. EM: Okay, back to stains. I want to commit the perfect murder and fool the CSI guys. What’s your advice?
JM: I don’t have advice on committing the perfect murder. If you’re asking how to get blood out of clothing and upholstery, we can do that. You can also do it yourself, too, if you know how.

EDITOR’S NOTE: John Mahdessian owns the legendary cleaner Madame Paulette. The company has pick¬up and drop¬off service throughout the NY Metro area through its web site EDGE readers are entitled to a $75 discount. John’s formula for removing blood stains can be found at

World-renowned custom couture cleaner, Madame Paulette®, exclusively works with high end designers and fashion houses such as Vera Wang, and Zac Posen, to create proper care labels for new design collections, which are mandated by the FTC. It is important for designers to have collection textiles analyzed and tested, then having proper care instructions created for each garment of a collection. Each care label is required to give specific care instructions to protect and safeguard that particular garment, based on its construction, embellishments and/or accessories. These instructions give the appropriate recommendation to consumers as well as the cleaner who is responsible for following the instructions precisely. If designers fail to create proper care instructions for a garment they are liable for the consequences under rules administrated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Madame Paulette® is the global authority in the care and maintenance of delicate textiles and many designers benefit from their extensive and unrivaled expertise. Madame Paulette® offers customized care label programs specifically created to cover a designer’s unique collection, considering fabric content and intricate details.
Madame Paulette® tests all textiles involved in a collection from swatches to the finished garments and will determine the best:
• Proper Method of cleaning
• Textures & Finishes
• Do’s & Don’ts
• Color fastness
• Overall garment appearance

Madame Paulette®’s textile and analysis care label professionals are able to research, design, dictate, source and oversee the production of all custom care labels, which span from the most basic instructions to the most demanding care techniques required. After testing of all textiles, a complete written report of testing results will be submitted to clients. Once an analysis has been completed and a proper care label dictation has been made, Madame Paulette will produce custom care labels for each collection for a designer.

Designers, who forgo creating proper care labels for their designs and collections, are not compliant with the FTC’s Care Labeling Rules. The FTC requires that manufactures and importers must attach proper care instructions to each garment sold. Failure to provide all garments with proper care label instructions and warnings is a violation of the FTC and designers are subject to enforcement actions and penalties. In addition to consequences from the FTC, dry cleaners are able to “blacklist” garments that do not have proper care labels. Dry Cleaners will refuse to clean any garment that is blacklisted.

There are different steps and procedures that go into cleaning, for example, a hand-painted garment. A garment like that should not be labeled “professional dry cleaning only” otherwise the paint on the garment could come off. Having Madame Paulette®’s care label program releases the designer’s liability from most cleaners not being able to service these creations.

For all designers, it is important to create a proper care label for each different collection. World-renowned dry cleaner, Madame Paulette® has created a program that will protect designers from potential violations, mitigate their liability, avoid unnecessary returns to retailers and create an accurate custom label for each item of a designer’s collection. The unique processes, techniques and procedures of Madame Paulette® set them apart as an industry leader and has enabled them to support any designer’s creations.

Star Jones' Madame Paulette Emergency

Leave it to TV Personality Star Jones to craft the ideal accessory for a cooking challenge, an apron! Taking charge of the branding aspects for the Celebrity Apprentice Omaha Steak Challenge last week, Team A.S.A.P member Star called the best of the business to get her aprons crafted properly. I have an emergency and I need your help, Star told Madame Paulette's boutique manager Christine O'Donnell. Arriving at New York City's Madame Paulette's flagship boutique minutes before close, Star and actress Marlee Matlin placed a custom order to heat-fuse 36 logos onto 36 aprons, centered and under the bustline, for a 9:00AM next-date delivery at The Institute of Culinary Education. Working with Team A.S.A.P's budget, Madame Paulette, helped delivered the chic aprons to the challenge, which ensured the smooth victory Team A.S.A.P achieved over Gary Busey's Team Backbone! The luxury cleaner has also provided their services for Star's wedding, which included three day round-the-clock care for her twelve bridesmaids and four flower girls; providing heel and hem adjustments, plus gown deliveries to different site locations and has since cleaned and preserved Star's Reem Acra wedding dress within their climate-controlled vault, which is also in the company of Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton's Vera Wang wedding gowns. We've Got Mail...

Just received this email from one of our wonderful clients. We love how our work impacts our clients so greatly!

Dear Mr. Mahdessian,

I've never written a fan letter like this before.

But the outstanding service recently rendered by Christine O'Donnell and your repair staff wizards warrants this first.

Given that I live in Litchfield County, Connecticut, my garments required the expert attention of someone like Christine who could ensure that my wishes were carried out.

My repaired garments arrived back today and I am thrilled with the results.

Even more than your superlative artistry with repairs, your staff -- from the person who answers the phone to supervisory staff like Christine -- are consistently pleasant and professional.

In the past I've also dealt with Tamara and Rosemary who were equally superb.

I'm sure you're already aware they are an asset to your team but I wanted to express my appreciation for a job well done.

Thank you as always!

From stains on your favorite blouses, to desperately wanting to wear your grandmother’s wedding dress despite the numerous rips and tears, keeping your clothes in the best possible condition takes more than just laundering them.

Take the guesswork out of clothing care thanks to Madame Paulette. New York City-based Madame Paulette is renowned for their cleaning, tailoring and restoring services, working on and for some of the most reputable couture designers in the world. John Mahdessian, current owner and son of the founders, sees the potential in each and every piece Madame Paulette is given. We had the pleasure of asking John a few questions. Here’s what he had to say!
-Lynden Halpern

SHECKY’S: What’s the most important tip you could give about at-home cleaning and care for clothing?

John Mahdessian: Regarding stain removal, time is the most important element. The longer you wait to remove a stain, the more time consuming the stain removal will be.

NY Fashion Week Comes to a Close

It's been a whirlwind week for us at Madame Paulette. Not only did we attend many of the shows, we also had the opportunity to remedy many fashion emergencies.

Who had an emergency you may ask? Shhh, We don't clean and tell; however, we're feeling generous today. Without our 24/7 on-call service...

...looks from this American Fashion Icon's newest collection may not have galloped down the runway without our emergency services...

...While pieces from this design duo's Latin and South American themed collection would have looked like the models were on the losing end of an epic battle with a bottle of Elmer's glue...

...and one VIP at the showing of gowns you'll certainly see next weekend at the Oscars and maybe a Kardashian would have been forced to step out in a dress with a hem 1.5 inches too long. The horror!

Any guesses?!
